Meet the Golf Tuition Team
Alex is a class A qualified Professional and joined the Celtic Manor Golf Team in April 2013. He learnt his trade at The Belfry, another former Ryder Cup venue, where he completed his training and progressed to PGA National Golf Academy Manager which he headed up for over three years. Alex joined Celtic Manor to further develop and grow the Resort’s Golf Academy and establish it as one of the top locations in the UK for tuition, custom fitting and practice. Also a keen coach, Alex likes to work on the fundamentals of the game building a solid foundation for his clients with pre-swing principles, which in turn deliver a
greater opportunity to develop a better and more consistent swing.
John joined the Academy team in February 2010, having graduated 4th overall in his national PGA training group. Before undertaking a career in golf coaching, he also gained a first class honours degree in Applied Sports and Exercise Science.
Now GUW South East Academy Coach and a national fitting technician for Titleist and Taylormade, John has a passion for coaching and enjoys coaching players of all abilities.
Anthony is a Class AA PGA Professional with over 10 years experience coaching golfers of all ages and abilities. His experience has taken him from a trainee at Celtic Manor, to Monmouthshire GC in Abergavenny, Cork in Ireland, Royal Mid-Surrey GC and Wyke Green GC in West London. Now back at Celtic Manor and using his experience gained, Anthony is here to continue to make a difference to golfers who work with him to make their game more enjoyable and successful.
Anthony is very approachable coach who puts the experience of the golfer first, through clear communication and effective ways to improve your game. Whether it's starting the game, breaking 90 or looking to fine tune your game, Anthony is here to help you to play better golf.
Michael joined the Academy team in May 2011. With representative honours for The Lothian’s Golf Association at all levels and Scotland at boys level, Michael obtained a golf scholarship at Stirling University where he was part of Scottish and British Championship winning teams.
Michael’s university career has seen him graduate twice with a BSc in Mathematics and its Applications and a BA in Applied Golf Management. With his thirst for knowledge and excellence, he has a passion for delivering high quality coaching to all levels of golfers.
Joe joined the Academy team in June 2011, turning professional after an extensive amateur career during which he represented England squads at every age group and achieved a handicap of +4. In his short time as a PGA assistant he has accumulated four regional victories and became the PGA West Region Assistants League Champion for 2012.
Joe also competed in the 2012 ISPS Handa Wales Open at Celtic Manor, alongside many of Europe’s elite golfers. During his time on the England squads, Joe was fortunate to work with many of the UK’s leading coaches who have given him a great insight into what it takes to coach to the highest standard. This knowledge, coupled with his playing background and passion for the game gives Joe the tools to significantly improve golfers of all standards.
John-Paul joined the Academy team in February 2008. Having taken up golf at the age of 16, he turned professional in 2010 and began his PGA training course. John-Paul is passionate about the game of golf and has a long term goal of becoming a competitive player on the PGA West Region.
During his first two years of PGA training he has developed a keen interest in coaching and custom fitting and is always looking to expand his knowledge.
