Last week brought the very exciting announcement of our partnership with the Port of Milford Haven to build the new Tŷ Hotel Milford Waterfront.

As we prepare to reopen our doors at the Celtic Manor Resort this weekend, this is a timely boost as the tourism sector in Wales looks to recover from what has been a devastating year since the original COVID-19 lockdown.

We are delighted to extend our horizons here at the Celtic Collection by opening and operating this 100-bedroom hotel on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast. We are also very excited to strike up this partnership with the Port of Milford Haven as part of a major redevelopment of Milford Waterfront, which will provide a stunning location for guests staying at the new hotel.

Pembrokeshire is world-renowned as a tourist destination thanks to its spectacular coastline and landscape, as well as its welcoming people, and we are looking forward to bringing our expertise in hotels and hospitality to this wonderful part of Wales.

What was most pleasing to me when the news was announced was the warm and welcoming reaction of the local people and businesses in Milford Haven. They are every bit as excited as we are about the new development and we are very much looking forward to working with local suppliers, stakeholders and business groups to bring the biggest benefit possible to the local economy and drive prosperity for the region after the difficult time we have all endured.

Around 50 permanent jobs will be created in the hotel’s operations with many more supported in the supply chain. A development of this kind will build interest in Milford Waterfront as a destination and generate excitement in the community, creating opportunities for long-term growth.

The construction work is one thing that has been allowed to progress during the lockdown and I’m sure the next year is going to fly by before we open our doors to our first guests at Tŷ Hotel Milford Waterfront in the spring of 2022.

Before then, the Celtic Collection will open another hotel this autumn as we join forces with the Welsh Rugby Union and property developer, Rightacres to open a luxury hotel right by the Principality Stadium in the city centre of Cardiff.

This too is a brilliant development to be involved in as we breathe new life into two historic buildings to create a vibrant addition to the capital city’s hotel offering.

So, while the pandemic has brought a year of turmoil for our business and the wider tourism and hospitality sectors, we now reopen our doors with a more positive outlook. The vaccine rollout promises a more sustained return to our regular activities this time around and the exciting projects we are working towards provide a welcome boost as we look ahead to a brighter future.
