2016: Our Year In Pictures
The Celtic Manor Resort enjoyed another busy year in 2016, opening two new restaurants, adding another hotel to its collection and staging many unforgettable events. Here's just some of the highlights...
February - Resort ambassadors Scott Quinnell and Jamie Baulch were among the special guests who helped us launch Cen, the resort's first Asian restaurant in partnership with former MasterChef finalist Larkin Cen.
February - Celtic Manor added to its trophy cabinet with two more prestigious awards in early 2016, capturing Best UK Hotel at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Awards for the fifth time in six years and retaining its title as the UK's Ultimate Golf Resort at the 59Club Awards.
March - You wait years to open a new restaurant and then three come along at once! Following Cen and the launch of Steak on Six in December, award-winning chef Richard Davies returned to Celtic Manor to create a fabulous new fine dining experience at Epicure.
April - The resort acquired the neighbouring 148-bedroom Hilton Newport and embarked on a £2 million refurbishment programme of the newly renamed Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor.
June - The Only Way Is Essex star Lydia Bright was the special guest as another spectacular Saturday afternoon of high-class sport and first-rate hospitality unfolded for Polo at the Manor 2016.
July - More stars, including Strictly Come Dancing pair Denise Van Outen and Anton Du Beke, were on show for the ever popular Celebrity Cup a few weeks later with Scotland landing this year's spoils in a thrilling nearest the pin shootout.
September - ...and there was another instalment of celebrity golf action in the autumn when resort ambassador Sir Gareth Edwards (pictured with Welsh soccer legend Cliff Jones) held his annual golf day on the Twenty Ten Course.
November - The magical Christmas Kingdom returned with a significant improvement for 2016 - the addition of a clear perspex roof on the ice rink. Dancing on Ice stars Samia and Sylvain Longchambon, Vicky Ogden and Sam Attwater, Frankie and David Seaman, and Jamie Baulch all put their skates on to launch it alongside the Santa's Grotto.
Here's to an equally exciting 2017... Happy New Year!
