The Junior Wales Open
Principality Building Society and The Celtic Manor Resort are both proud to be building on the legacy of Wales’ first Ryder Cup with a competition which hopes to foster future champions to follow in the footsteps of Welsh Ryder Cup heroes like Ian Woosnam and Phillip Price, and Solheim Cup star Becky Brewerton.
Boys and girls compete in Under-13, Under-15 and Under-18 age groups in Wales’ premier junior golf tournament. Junior golfers from all over Wales entered qualifying stages, with successful qualifiers going on to contest the grand final over Celtic Manor’s Twenty Ten Course.
The 2013 title was won by Arrun Singh-Brar who, at the age of 14, beat boys four years his senior to claim the overall trophy.
Competing in the Under-15 age group, Singh-Brar shot a superb round of 74, three over par, on the Twenty Ten Course to win by three shots from Jack Duncalf with the just-crowned Welsh Boys’ Champion Kyle Harman a shot further back.
