Golfers may make way for other talented drivers at Celtic Manor

Posted at 10:08 on 16 August 2012

The Celtic Manor Resort, host venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup, welcomes top drivers of another kind when it plays host to an all-new special stage of Wales Rally GB in September.

Eight-time World Rally Champion Sebastién Loeb, and his fellow WRC stars, will descend on the resort for the event on Saturday 15th September, arriving at the venue in the early evening for some thrilling twilight rallying.

Spectators will enjoy superb views from elevated viewing banks as a full field of WRC cars compete on service roads alongside the award-winning Twenty Ten Ryder Cup course.

Clubhouse hospitality packages are also available which include balcony views of the start line, a three-course dinner with wine and the option to add on a night’s luxury accommodation in the five-star Resort Hotel.

The Celtic Manor Resort, which hosts the annual ISPS Handa Wales Open, is set in more than 2,000 acres of panoramic parkland and features two hotels, two spas, two health clubs, a shooting school, fishing, adventure golf, a treetop high ropes course, tennis courts, mountain biking and walking trails.

Celtic Manor Resort Chief Executive Dylan Matthews said: “We are delighted to welcome another world-class sporting event to Celtic Manor. Wales Rally GB has been one of the biggest events on the Welsh sporting calendar for a number of years and it is great to be hosting a special stage here for the first time.

“After staging a memorable Ryder Cup in 2010, it will be great to watch these other talented drivers roar their way around the roads by the course and clubhouse. Just like at the Ryder Cup, viewing for fans should be spectacular from the banks above the golf course and from the balconies for hospitality guests within the Twenty Ten Clubhouse.”
