Art at The Newbridge on Usk
We are thrilled to be showcasing pieces of work by two celebrated Welsh artists, Christopher Langley and Chris Davies.
Pieces from these collections are available to purchase at Newbridge on Usk
‘Black to Gold’ by Chris Davies
The images seek to capture the transition from the age of coal to modern Cardiff Bay, to collage and express what lies at the heart of Wales as Nation. Today Cardiff Bay stands as monument to industry, a city and country with coal in her veins, restructured, redesigned and recapturing the glory of 'Black Gold'.
Black to Gold was produced by Chris Davies, a Welsh photographer, based in Wales, whose work often uses fine art photography as a medium to produce composite images that tell a story, provide an experience in time, or a puzzle to be solved regarding place and mystery.

Lumen Prize Finalist Christopher Langley has been painting for over thirty years. Today he uses a multimedia approach including the latest iPad technologies (as one David Hockney) to create truly original artwork. In addition, he is experienced in producing works in acrylics, oils and watercolour.
Christopher is currently exhibiting a collection of original paintings at the Newbridge on Usk, a mixture of impressionist, traditional and abstract styles, such as ‘Rhossili Mewn Glas’. Surrounding the lounge are colourful and vibrant works; some with Welsh themes, others with an international flavour such as 'Newport Beach in Pink' which was awarded Top 100 international works by the Lumen Art Prize, and runner-up SWAS Award and Insider Art Award at the Gate Gallery, Cardiff.
In the dining area are two landscape works of Welsh countryside. One called simply 'Apple Trees’, a late summer scene during an apple harvest and 'After the Summer Storm', a village sleeps in the Welsh hillside; a storm has passed leaving the air refreshed. This original acrylic painting was first displayed at The Pierhead Building, Cardiff as part of Christopher's National Solo Exhibition in 2015.
