‘Black to Gold’ by Chris Davies
The images seek to capture the transition from the age of coal to modern Cardiff Bay, to collage and express what lies at the heart of Wales as Nation. Today Cardiff Bay stands as monument to industry, a city and country with coal in her veins, restructured, redesigned and recapturing the glory of 'Black Gold'.
Black to Gold was produced by Chris Davies, a Welsh photographer, based in Wales, whose work often uses fine art photography as a medium to produce composite images that tell a story, provide an experience in time, or a puzzle to be solved regarding place and mystery.

Langley was born in the Welsh market town of Pontypridd in 1962. After successful experimentation and an evolution lasting many years, the core of his work pushes the boundaries between formalism and logic, making abstract painting look enviably effortless.
Some of his canvases reflect a unique approach, conceiving painting as something intrinsically abstract with a sense of texture that resolves from an intimately hands-on conception of styles. Some of his paintings are not formally apologetic bending the knees to an illusion of the past, while others, such as ‘Huts in Yellow and Black’ and ‘Embankment' portray familiar scenes presented in unusual aspects and colours.
