Radiance Retreat

Whatever her stage in life, every woman has the concern of ageing. As a busy working mum feeling the strain of looking after an unruly two year old, I am no exception. So when I found out about the Elemis Pro Collagen Quartz Lift Facial in the Forum Spa, I was down there faster than you could say botox!

Unlike other spas cramped into city centre basements, the Forum Spa is a relaxation haven, a real spa retreat. I was on a retreat, a Radiance Retreat to be exact; a package which includes the Elemis Pro Collagen Quartz Lift Facial and Leighton Denny Immaculate Manicure as well as a light lunch and full use of facilities.

Our lunch was the perfect balance before our afternoon, satisfyingly filling but not overly stodgy, I had the mozzarella, tomato and pesto flatbread, my friend had the lemon chicken baguette, both served with a crisp side salad.

Then for the main event, the Elemis Pro Collagen Quartz Lift Facial, described by Elemis as a treatment that ‘slows down the signs of premature ageing and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, leaving firmer, uplifted and more youthful looking skin’. After a quick consultation I was welcomed into a heated bed complete with fluffy sheets and towels, I was already in heaven!

The treatment began with a hot lime foot cleanse and Thai foot ritual, complete with abdominal breathing which turned me onto relaxation mode.

The face was cleaned with pro radiance cream cleanser and removed with warm mitts cloaked with a deliciously tangy lime scent. A refreshingly light lavender toner was then applied, which was followed by a warm lavender facial massage using Elemis Cellular Recovery Capsules, I could literally feel my fine lines being ironed out.

The eye massage that followed was a hypnotising mix of Japanese camellia oil and delicate kneading around the eye socket. I was then pleasantly surprised to be treated to a neck and shoulder massage, a favourite of mine. The firm pressure combined with the rosemary scent of the Elemis De-stress massage oil created a potent cocktail of lethargy. It took the sharp lime mitts and refreshing lavender toner to bring me back to life again.

The face and neck was veiled in Pro Collagen Quartz Lift Serum and silk compresses were delicately applied under the eyes. A Papaya Enzyme Peel Mask was layered over leaving the serum underneath to work its magic. Goodbye fine lines, I sang in my head, as I enjoyed a scalp massage.

The papaya mask was slowly removed, with a very satisfying feeling of all the impurities in the skin being peeled away with it. The face and neck was then slathered with a Pro Collagen Lift Mask and I revelled in the luxury of an arm massage that eased away the knots of carrying a toddler, whilst the mask soothed the years away with its anti-ageing ingredients including Quartz with Padina Pavonica, adaptogenic Noni, Moringa and Argan Tree Oil. (Yes seems complicated, but it works!)

Now my skin was detoxified and plumped to perfection, the final stage was another dose of the miracle Quartz Lift Serum, followed by a generous helping of Pro Collagen Marine Cream moisturiser.

After an indulgent treatment we took advantage of the spa facilities by bubbling away in the women’s only jacuzzi and detoxfying in the steam room, all in the privacy of the changing rooms, before retiring to the relaxation area complete with loungers and refreshments.

The Leighton Denny Manicure that followed was an enjoyable luxury of hand massage and exfoliation followed by a shape and polish, all whilst snuggled in our robes watching Sex and the City on the treatment room screen. Genius!

The Radiance Retreat was a real luxury; the facial gave the feeling of no expense spared, with generous amounts of high quality product as well as the additional bonuses of neck, arm and scalp massages.

The treatment did not feel rushed, compared to a 50 minute facial, this 75 minute treatment felt like a different experience altogether, an all-round relaxation for the skin, body and mind. The added pampering of a manicure, lunch and use of the facilities created the ultimate indulgence. Radiance guaranteed.
