More TV stars swing in for Celebrity Cup

Category: Events, News, The Celebrity Cup

Television presenters Ben Shephard and Zoe Hardman are the latest showbiz stars to sign up for the Celebrity Cup golf tournament at Celtic Manor this summer.

Shephard and Hardman will swap the microphone for mid-irons as they tee up with Mike Tindall, Vernon Kay and Peter Jones for Team England in the event from July 4-5.

Good Morning Britain anchor Shephard actually trod the fairways of Celtic Manor as an on-course commentator for the All*Star Cup a decade ago but will now play an active part in the Celebrity Cup, taking on rivals from Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Hardman, the Heart 106.2 DJ and presenter of new Sky Sports TV show 'Golf Juice', is also no stranger to the celebrity golf circuit and will add a splash of glamour as the first female golfer signed up for this year’s event.

They join a cast list which includes fellow TV stars Rob Brydon, Gethin Jones and Philip Glenister representing Wales, Irish singing sensations Keith Duffy, Ronan Keating and Brian McFadden, and Scottish footballing royalty Kenny Dalglish, Alan Hansen and Gordon Strachan.

Celtic Manor Chief Executive Ian Edwards said:

We are delighted to see that so many stars from the worlds of showbiz and sport have already signed up for the 2015 Celebrity Cup. The Celebrity Cup has been a resounding success since we launched the event in 2013 and we have seen a real appetite from the public for watching celebrities competing outside of their usual comfort zones on the golf course. This summer’s event is shaping up to be the best yet.

The last few celebrity names are still to be added to the team sheets for the tournament which saw England gain revenge by beating Scotland in last year’s final. The four nations compete in teams of six for the event, which promises a full family day out with an interactive retail village and the opportunity to get up close to watch the stars in action.

As well as top-notch golfing action and on and off-course banter, there will be Q&A interviews with other sports stars and live music in the tented village.
