Members and friends attended a launch event for Rafters Restaurant in February, 2008
In February 2008, Rafters Restaurant was launched with an event for members and friends of the Celtic Manor Resort in the Twenty Ten Clubhouse.
Named after the towering solid cedar beams which give it such a striking contemporary setting, Rafters opened as an addition to the resort's choice of restaurants for residents and local diners, as well as offering a luxurious 19th hole for members and visiting golfers playing a round on the Twenty Ten Course.
With a large and inviting fireplace reflecting the warm Welsh welcome, Rafters soon established a loyal clientele and remains one of Celtic Manor's most popular restaurants.
Simon Searle arrived as the head chef from a background which included the two Michelin-starred Michel Bras in the south of France and remains in position today.
Rafters has been the venue for many parties and special occasions and provides the players' lounge during the ISPS Handa Wales Open and was used by players' families and other VIPs during the 2010 Ryder Cup.
