Last weekend I attended the 'Garden to Plate' cookery demonstration held at the picture-perfect Newbridge on Usk country inn. This was the first event of its kind for Newbridge and perhaps unsurprisingly a sell-out success, with a mixture of avid foodies and local bloggers too.
If you're unfamiliar with the name, Newbridge on Usk is an idyllic hideaway situated in a beautiful spot on the banks of the River Usk. It really is a hidden gem and made the perfect location for this special culinary experience.
The day began with coffee and teas served at 11.30am, together with an introduction from general manager, Ronan Hunter. The guests were then treated to a fantastic live cookery demonstration on the stunning new riverside terrace boasting spectacular countryside views right over the Usk Valley.
The demonstration itself was presented by head chef Adam Whittle and his sous chef Rob Maw, who prepared delicious hand-dived scallops followed by two types of mouthwatering meringue which were used to create a sensational summer dessert.
Once the demonstration was over, we sampled delicious apple and blackberry mojitos made from a local blackberry bramble syrup, before moving inside for a sumptuous three course lunch.
Here are some pictures from the day…
