Family comes out tops as angel adorns tree

Category: News, Suite Treats

The Christmas Tree has gone up in the lobby with a new addition this year… an angel on the top which was designed by a competition winner.

Seven-year-old Joseph Wright helped mum Karen design the angel after Celtic Manor launched a competition for families to design the decoration which takes pride of place on the resort’s impressive and much-loved, 25-foot tree.

The winning entry was a traditional silver and white angel incorporating Celtic knot patterns around the shoulders.

Karen said: “Joseph told me what he wanted and I drew it up so it was a real team effort. We were delighted when we were told we had won and it’s lovely to see our design brought to life in the finished angel.”

Joseph and brother Dylan, and Karen and husband David got to see their winning creation when they enjoyed a two-night stay at Celtic Manor as their prize.

“We’ve had a fantastic time,” added Karen. “The boys have loved swimming and playing adventure golf and we’ve all had a really relaxing time. Unfortunately we were just too early to see the angel on the tree but we'll be coming back to Christmas Kingdom in December so we'll have a good look then.”
