The Coldra Court Hotel by Celtic Manor celebrates its first birthday on Friday 31st March.
It is 12 months since the Celtic Manor Resort took ownership of the former Hilton Newport and the Langstone hotel has undergone a busy year of refurbishment.
Part of a three-year, £2m upgrade, the first year of opening has seen the following achievements:
° 69 refurbished bedrooms
° 3,500 metres of fabric used in that refurbishment
° 5 refurbished meeting rooms
° 50,000 overnight guests greeted
° Increased occupancy from 70 to 85 per cent
° 40 new members of staff recruited
° The Rib new smokehouse and grill restaurant opened
Coldra Court Hotel Manager Matthew Barnby (pictured top, left, celebrating Coldra Court's birthday with some of the team) reflected on an amazing year for all involved. He said:
The refurbishment programme is well ahead of schedule and there's been some tough hard work involved to achieve that. Seeing the quality of the refurbished rooms and new restaurant, and hearing the feedback from our guests on the improvements makes it all very rewarding. It's been a steep learning curve for me in my first year as a hotel manager and I learn something new every day. I'm lucky to have a great team around me and a great team to call on for support at the Celtic Manor Resort.
