VSI-thinking specialise in web design and development of interactive web sites.
The Cardiff based company was tasked with developing a dedicated mobile booking engine for Celtic Manor.
The luxury hotel Celtic Manor Resort has launched a dedicated mobile booking engine developed by VSI-thinking. With over 35% of email marketing recipients accessing web offers with their mobile phone or tablet there was a clear necessity to deliver an optimised booking journey for the 5 star hotel. The web site already had a mobile optimised content site using the VSI-thinking responsive design platform enabling visitors to view the hotels breaks and offers, but the mobile booking journey required a new approach.
Key to the project was changing the user interface (UI) to 'work' on mobile devices and provide a more 'app' like appearance. Buttons and selectors used HTML5 components to invoke simple input options for selecting the arrival date and number of rooms. The booking steps, product content, navigation and extras were all considered in the process.
The navigation was fixed at the top of the screen and simplified to manage only the booking process. Content from the integrated booking system was modified using the VSI-thinking CMS to work in a responsive layout. Each booking step was considered for the best way to display products such as optional room rates. Finally, customers can easily select a number of room extras to complete their booking. The responsive design improves the user journey and enables visitors to book on mobile or tablet with ease.
"We are delighted with the result", said Mark Thomas, Managing Director of VSI-thinking, he continued "the solution is completely tailored for online booking and the Celtic Manor Resort are already benefiting from additional bookings".
