Visiting golfer Sam Shagauchi has recorded what is believed to be the first hole-in-one on the famous, driveable par-four, 15th hole on Celtic Manor's Twenty Ten Course.
Sam achieved the incredible feat which eluded the likes of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald in the Ryder Cup when the club golfer holed his tee shot through the chute in the trees to the elevated green.
Unable to see the ball finish from the tee, Sam had a very pleasant surprise when he made his way up to the green and eventually found his ball in the hole for an unlikely albatross.
Sam was presented with a bottle of champagne (pictured top) in recognition of his achievement by Golf Services manager Kirk Lovell and was also given some Twenty Ten golf accessories as a memento of his unusual ace.
The Twenty Ten hole-in-one provided the highlight of a memorable time for Sam who stayed with his wife and daughter while playing all three championship courses at Celtic Manor.
No other aces have ever been reported by members or visiting golfers to the Twenty Ten so this is being hailed as a first... unless you know better?
