The Celtic Manor Mountain Club

The Mountain Club is run by Guest Activities Co-ordinator Huw Price. Huw has been hill walking and mountain biking for over 10 years and is an outdoor sports enthusiast. As a keen mountaineer, Huw wanted to offer Members of all abilities the chance to try hill and country walking in an informal and relaxed setting.

The Celtic Manor Mountain Club events and walks are year round and take place no matter what the weather, however routes may be changed from those advertised to ensure the safety of the group if adverse conditions are forecast or the route becomes unsuitable.

Mountain Club participants do not require any previous hill walking experience, just the ability to walk over rough terrain and plenty of determination and drive to get them up some steep slopes!

The walks are between 3 and 10 miles and are frequently over rough and uneven terrain in some of South Wales wildest and remote areas. All Celtic Manor Mountain Club Members are required to wear suitable clothing for hill walking including stout footwear, preferably walking boots or shoes. Ideal clothing for Mountain Club would consist of a wicking or breathable base layer, warm fleece or jumper to act as an insulating mid layer and a waterproof outer layer. Also pack a spare fleece with hat and gloves into your rucksack.

If you have concerns about your fitness level or have a special requirement/ medical condition please contact Huw Price before registering for the walk on 01633 410471.

Pack lunches and transport can be arranged for hotel residents
