Fishing at the Newbridge on Usk
Guests have the opportunity to participate in fly, spin and bait fishing on the nearby River Usk. Synonymous with some of the best salmon and trout fishing outside of Scotland, our experienced Ghillie is able to guide you in the skills required to fish this dramatic tidal river.
The salmon and trout season runs every year from 3rd March to 17th October. To protect the habitat of the river there are a number of restrictions regarding fishing during this period as detailed below:
3 Mar – 15 Jun Catch and Release policy
Fly fishing of salmon and trout
16 Jun – 29 Sep Catch and Keep policy
Fly, spin and bait fishing of salmon and trout
30 Sep – 17 Oct Catch and Keep policy
Fly and spin fishing of salmon
During the ‘Catch and Keep’ season from 16th June to 17th October, you are welcome to take your fish to the Newbridge on Usk, where our team of chefs will prepare and cook your fish so that you can enjoy your own catch for lunch or dinner (please note that an additional charge applies).
Fishing Packages
Starting from only £35 per person, packages are available for all abilities including beginners, with introductory two hour sessions and full or half day expeditions on offer for those looking to enjoy this most peaceful of pastimes.
All fishing packages include:
- Tea, coffee and pastries on arrival
- The dedicated services of a trained/qualified local fly fishing instructor
- Your day permit for the fi shing location
- Your day Environment Agency fi shing rod licence
- Loan of all the necessary fl y fi shing tackle, waders, flies etc. if required
- Complimentary transfer from The Resort
In addition, our full and half day packages also include a two course lunch at the Newbridge on Usk.
