Environmental Policy
A Sustainable Resort
The completion of a £140m expansion programme in 1999 made The Celtic Manor Resort the largest ever private investment in the British hospitality industry. The Resort offers two hotels - a five star 330 room Resort Hotel with 32 suite bedrooms and a 19th century Manor House with 70 bedrooms. It also features 5 restaurants, 2 tennis courts, 3 championship golf courses including the new Twenty Ten, 2 clubhouses, a golf academy, 2 health clubs and spas, a state of the art convention centre, exhibition hall and 31 function rooms.
Celtic Manor recognises it has moral and social responsibilities to the environment and is committed to developing an environmentally responsible business. We appreciate that environmental management is an issue of ongoing concern for our customers, staff and suppliers and know that it requires constant reassessment, monitoring and continual improvement.
An environmental management system has been developed following the ‘Green Dragon’ Environmental Standard framework. This will help us oversee our operations and reduce the Resort’s impact on the environment. The Resort is one of fifty companies implementing the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Management pilot programme, which aims to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions.
The Environmental Project Team will take overall responsibility for the Resort's environmental performance.
Celtic Manor's policy is therefore to:
- Record and monitor all environmental impact, including new projects, and set specific impact reduction targets.
- Comply with all current legislation and aim to meet future legislative requirements.
- Minimise waste and also seek to recycle as much as is economically practical and ensure the remainder is disposed of responsibly.
- Integrate environmental objectives into relevant business decisions in a cost effective manner.
- Require staff to address environmental responsibilities within the framework of normal operating procedures.
- Influence suppliers of services and goods to reduce their impact on the environment, only use suppliers that have good environmental practices.
- Enhance awareness of relevant issues among guests.
- Publish information on environmental performance.
- Commit to the prevention of pollution.
- Develop environmental response plans for major incidents in order to minimise their environmental impact.
This policy will be updated on an annual basis and made available to all interested parties.
